Coming Home Winterfest warms the season

What do basketball, scepters and lovely young ladies escorting handsome young kings have in common? If you guessed Stockbridge Coming Home, you nailed the answer. This year’s event, held Friday, Feb. 17, was aptly themed “We Are One” in recognition of the new and combined Junior/Senior High School facilities.

The event began with a Coming Home pep assembly at the SJSHS. Then at 6 p.m. the Girls Varsity basketball team tipped off the evening, scoring a win against Maple Valley 39-23. During halftime, the Coming Home King 2018 was announced and senior king Hunter Alvarado, escorted by Anna Baird, was awarded a crown and scepter.

Freshman king Spencer McLennan was escorted by Molly Nichols. Spencer plays basketball, football, and track and field.

Sophomore king Andrew Carriero was escorted by Shaddai Demerath-Shanti. Andrew is involved in First Robotics, tutoring, and Science Olympiad. He has received an honors award in Art and won an essay contest with the Stockbridge Capital Area Library.

Junior king Eddie Koch was escorted by Rachel Frazzini. Eddie is involved in varsity soccer and varsity baseball. He has received an honorable mention in soccer, MVP in soccer, and freshman of the year award in soccer.

Junior king PJ Loso was escorted by Katelyn Kneiper. PJ plays varsity baseball as well as varsity soccer.

Senior king Hunter Alvarado was escorted by Anna Baird. Hunter’s favorite color is red and his favorite class is fitness and sports. Hunter likes watching sports and his favorite team is MSU.

Senior king Martin Hoeksema was escorted by Audrey Bradley. Martin is involved in Journalism, First Robotics, baseball, and football. He received the coaches’ award in football this fall.

Senior king Colin Lilley, escorted by Jade Heaviland, participates in cross country, soccer, robotics, and track. He was second team all league in cross country.

Senior king Kyle Lilley, escorted by Madison Gee-Montgomery, is involved in National Honor Society, varsity cross country, varsity basketball, and varsity track. Kyle has received academic all state award and league champion and regional runner up, high jump.

Senior king Taylor Spadafore, escorted by Madison Howard, is involved in the SHS industrial arts program and is a captain of the soccer team. He was the most valuable offensive player and all league honorable mention in soccer this fall.

Senior king Jake Sutton, escorted by Kelly Cool, participates in football, track, wrestling, and the LINKS program. He was second team all conference wide receiver and academic all league.

Senior king Zane Turner, escorted by Morgan Sipes, is captain of the golf team and apart of the varsity football team. He dual enrolls at Jackson Community College.
