Waterloo Township Board Unapproved Meeting Minutes

27 February 2018    7:00 P.M.

Call to Order:  7:00 p.m.

Present:  Lance, Walz, Kitley, McAlister, Morency.  Also present:  John Beck, Zoning Enforcement Officer; 8 residents and 2 visitors.

Public Comment:  None.

Consent Agenda: 

  • Kitley motioned with support from Walz to accept the consent agenda as presented.  Yes/all; no/none.  Motion carried.

Old Business:

  • Discussion on the Broadband Cooperative Internet Service and the importance of a feasibility study was addressed by Rose LaForest.  She spoke of the number of people who supporting the idea and want a feasibility study done.  The cost to the Township could be between $15,000 and $20,000 for the study.  She has asked for another informational meeting to be scheduled and will be contacting the clerk to set it up. Those who missed the first meeting on January 30 will have a chance to get more information and ask questions.  Bids will also be submitted from 3 companies to do the feasibility study. There is also the possibility of a paper or internet survey to find out numbers of those interested in the study.

New Business:

  • Morency gave a synopsis of the Planning Commission meeting that took place on February 20, 2018.  They are ready to begin Article 4.  Beals stated that it has been good to have Rohn Tripp and John Beck in attendance giving their input regarding Zoning Administration and Zoning Enforcement since it is now a 2 person position.
  • Walz motioned with support from Kitley to have Westshore Services install a new emergency siren over at Coachman’s Cove at a cost of $20,800 replacing the old siren which is no longer able to be repaired and is not functioning.  Roll call vote:  Yes/Lance, Morency, McAlister, Walz, Kitley.  No/none.  Motion carried.
  • McAlister motioned with support from Kitley to purchase the Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 Automatic Defibrillator at the quoted price of $1,577.36 from Bound Tree Company.  Roll call vote:  Yes/Morency, McAlister, Walz, Kitley, Lance.  No/none.  Motion carried.  There will be training on how to use the defibrillator in an emergency at the Township.
  • Lance motioned with support from McAlister to publish the meeting minutes in the Stockbridge Community News which is published once a month.  Yes/all; no/none.  Motion carried.  Lance motioned with support from McAlister to discontinue posting meeting minutes in The Sun Times News.  Yes/all; no/none.  Motion carried.  . Beals stated that in the future signs may be posted in the yard of any address that will be having a special hearing pertaining to a ZBA or Planning Commission issue.  A letter also goes out to all addresses surrounding the issue to be addressed.
  • Walz motioned with support from McAlister to adjourn at 8.20 p.m.

The next Planning Commission meeting will be on March 20, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.  The next regular Board meeting will be on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.  Unapproved minutes will be published in the Stockbridge Community News at the end of each month, on our website at www.waterlootwpmi.com and on our Facebook page at: waterlootownshipmichigan.
