Baseball Splits Pair at Quincy Invite

The Stockbridge baseball team went 1-1 at the Quincy Invitational Saturday, May 4 and improved its record to 12-7 overall on the season.

The Panthers dropped a heartbreaker in the opener, falling to Kalamazoo Home School 3-2.

Daniel Ballagh doubled in the second inning and an RBI single by PJ Loso drove in Eddie Koch, who had ran for Ballagh to make it 1-0 Stockbridge.

Gage Place made it 2-0 in the third with an RBI single that drove home Alex Rose.

It would stay that way until the sixth when Kalamazoo ripped four consecutive singles to plate a pair of runs to tie the game at 2-2.

A pair of errors and a walk put runners in scoring position with one out in the seventh for Kalamazoo and a base hit scored the game-winning run in a walk-off 3-2 win.

Aiden Trost and Rose had two hits each to lead the offense, while Place and Loso had RBI singles. Jeremy Pilch, Drew Davis, and Loso combined for eight strikeouts on the mound for the Panthers.

The Panthers bounced back to take the second game 7-3 over Adrian-Madison.

Stockbridge scored seven runs in the first inning on just two hits. They benefitted from four walks and a hit batter and made Madison pay for their mistakes. Ballagh had an RBI double and Trost a single in the inning.

It would be the only hits the Panthers would get in the game.

Madison scored a run in the first and two in the fifth as the Panthers held on for the win.

Ballah earned the win on the mound, striking out four.
