Crazy Quilters warm the hearts—and hands—of local seniors

by Mary Jo David

Who says nothing good happened in the “Year of the Pandemic”? Just in time for Christmas 2020, residents of Elder Ridge Manor and Walnut Ridge Country Estates in Stockbridge became the beneficiaries of 40 generous-sized lap quilts made by the Crazy Quilters club of Stockbridge. (See the January 2021 issue of Stockbridge Community News for the full story about this club and their extensive generosity.)

Owner/ Licensee Jeffrey Shepard was delighted for residents of both of his adult foster care facilities to receive these quilts. “Our residents are absolutely enjoying the handiwork of the Crazy Quilters. The quilters’ skill and hard work is evident in every quilt and folks here are loving them!”

Shepard has a true appreciation for the comfort that quilts can provide. His grandmother, Vicki Owen, owned Odds ‘n Owens, a fabric and crafts store in Stockbridge in the mid-1980s.
