Early Morning Teen Fight prompts multiple law enforcement agencies to residence

by Tina Cole-Mullins

In the early morning hours of June 19, at approximately 1 a.m., Ingham County Sheriff Deputies responded to the 4600 block of Chapman Road in Stockbridge for “a large fight at a party” according to Field Officer Captain Andrew Daenzer.

“Most of the party had dispersed when Sheriff’s Deputies arrived,” Daenzer said. “An 18-year-old Lapeer man reported that a 20-year-old Stockbridge man intentionally crashed into his vehicle.  The Lapeer man was treated on scene by medics for minor injuries.  The report will be sent to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office for review.” Daenzer went on to add.

What was intended to be a celebration, turned into what Channel 6 news reported as an event having a promoter calling out teens from all over the state of Michigan, it prompted what WLNS reported as 300-500 teen party goers in attendance.

Local first hand witnesses say it was more like 150 uninvited guests to the party, showed up from all over the state.

“It was crazy, I have never seen anything like it. People are saying we did things like that or it was just kids having fun. But I was there, I saw it and as kids this was NOTHING like what we ever did, a lot of these kids aren’t even from around here” one source, an immediate family member and 911 caller who wishes to remain anonymous shared.

One witness account has an unknown young man being jumped by another group of  boys. In his attempt to flee the altercation a vehicle accident occured.

In what appears to be a separate incident, a group of teenage girls engaged in an altercation resulting in a local minor being treated at Sparrow hospital from being pushed, falling or jumping out a window, at this time it is unclear of which.

Although it has not been confirmed, and there was no mention of it in the official press release, multiple accounts and eye witness statements have come forth stating shots were in fact fired, including one vehicle’s window being shot out and kids calling their parents scared.

Anyone with any further information contact myself or the Ingham County Sheriff’s Department.
