FROM CADL STOCKBRIDGE

by Head Librarian Sherri McConnell

We see a lot of books, movies and audiobooks on CD leave our doors as members of our community enjoy our collection. At the beginning of this year we added to our CADL community, becoming one of the first in Ingham County to bring the Student Success Initiative to their school district!

With SSI every student and teacher receive a special virtual library card that they can use to check out physical materials and access our full digital collection. We wondered how many took advantage of this, and we investigated!

We discovered 222 Stockbridge students and staff used the Student Success cards in 2020. That’s 18%, the highest percentage of card use in Ingham County! Seven other school districts began participating in the program in 2020 with more to join in 2021, and Stockbridge students lead the way in taking advantage of all the educational resources CADL offers.

Thank you to Stockbridge teachers, staff and students for making CADL a part of your schoolwork. Learn more about SSI here. We hope you go far!

Speaking of going far, lace up your walking shoes! The Friends of the Stockbridge Library and the Stockbridge Branch are supporting the 2021 Winter Warm Up for the community. This is a free winter walking and running activity. Find out more and sign up here for the Stockbridge Team. There are Zoom meetings to learn about good walking and running form and nutrition practices.

There’s also a Facebook community named where you can post about your winter exercise adventures. This event runs from Feb. 1 to March 28, ending with a free 5K walk/run at Hawk Island Park in Lansing on March 28 (weather and public health conditions permitting). Stop by for maps of the walking trails around Stockbridge to get started.

Capital Area District Libraries’ Stockbridge branch is located at 200 Wood St. For more information, call 517-851-7810 or visit cadl.org.
