Jonesville Ends Panthers Season in Playoff Rematch

A second round playoff rematch looked a lot like the first game as the Stockbridge football team fell to Jonesville 60-24 Friday night.

Much like the first matchup that Jonesville won 48-14, the Panthers held tough for a half, but ran out of gas in the second half as the Comets pulled away for the win.

Jonesville took an early 8-0 lead with a TD run and two-point conversion, but the Panthers answered with a 56yd TD pass from Riley Kennedy to Jeremy Pilch to cut the lead to 8-6 after one quarter.

The Comets extended their lead to 20-6 with a pair of TD runs to start the second quarter, but again the Panthers answered with Pilch scoring on a 10-yard pass from Drew Philipp to cut the lead to 20-12.

Jonesville punched another one in just before the half to make it 28-12. The Panthers moved the ball inside the Jonesville 20 just before half, but failed on a 4th down pass to end the half.

The Comets connected on a long scoring pass to extend its lead to 36-12 before Pilch caught his third TD pass of the night, this time from Kennedy for 12-yards to make it 36-18.

Another TD run by Jonesville to make it 44-18 and Kennedy ran one in from six-yards out to make it 44-24 after three.

The Comets would end any chances of a comeback with a pair of fourth quarter TD’s to make the final 60-24.

Kennedy passed for 136 yards and two scores, while Philipp was 6-9 for 32 yards and a TD. Kevin Killinger led the Panthers with 65 yards rushing, while Kennedy had 50 yards and a TD.

Pilch caught five passes for 96 yard and three TD’s, while Drew Robinson caught two for 44, Noah Robidou two for 17, and Philipp one for 12.

The defense was led by Pilch with six tackles, while Killinger, Robidou, and Josh Dishneau each had four.

The Panthers finished the season with a 3-5 overall record.
