Local teacher, Elizabeth Cyr, receives national award

“It is with great pleasure to announce that we have one of our staff members being nationally recognized!” Stockbridge High School Principal Jeff Trapp wrote, Jan. 23 in breaking the news that Journalism/Yearbook teacher Elizabeth Cyr is one of two nationwide recipients of the Diversity Award presented by the Journalism Education Association.

According to Trapp, the Diversity Award honors a scholastic journalism teacher, student, or group that “demonstrates a commitment to cultural awareness and encourages a multicultural approach with the student media staff, production, or community.”

Trapp said Cyr will be recognized April 25-27 during the JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention in Anaheim, California.
“Please join me in congratulating Elizabeth in receiving this remarkable honor,” he wrote.
