Obituary: Christopher Kruger

Christopher Bailey Kruger has been on earth for 58+ years entertaining all who knew him. He passed away in his home on August 21, 2019, after a parade of visitors entertained him while he was sick.

Chris leaves behind his wife of almost 34 years, Deanna Kruger, his son, Joseph (Whitney) Kruger, and daughters, Bailey Kruger, Karly Kruger, and Macy Kruger; also two granddaughters that he loved, Harper and Sophia Kruger. Chris also leaves behind his four brothers, Michael (Susie) Kruger, Tim Kruger, Brian (Rosanne Paglia) Kruger, Eric (Lisa) Kruger, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert (Sharon) Cole, as well as his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both his parents, Gerald Kruger and Judith (Bailey) Kruger.

Chris was born September 30, 1960 in Ann Arbor, MI. He graduated from Chelsea High School in 1978 but attended Ypsilanti schools for most of his formative years. Chris loved meeting new groups of people to which he referred to as his audience. He spent the majority of his career in Law Enforcement working for five different departments. He retired from Chelsea Police Department and was active with Huron Clinton Metropolitan Authority until he passed.

Chris believed most problems could be solved with comedy and conversation. He was often thanked later by people he had arrested and had given tickets to. He loved entertaining and was happy to be a member of Stunt Johnson Theater with his brother and childhood friends. Chris’ legacy will live on in the movies he has acted in and the stories he has told, whether they were true or not.

Another passion of Chris’ was public education. He served on the Stockbridge School Board for 25 years and was very proud of the schools. He thanked the staff constantly and tried to always speak on their behalf at board meetings and appreciated each and every staff member.

Chris was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and rarely missed a game, whether it be on TV, the radio, or on the field. Chris loved to travel, see new places, and meet new friends. He visited Mexico, Russia, Iceland, Germany, France, and Poland. His family will continue to travel in his honor.
