Panther Wrestlers Keep Battling

The small Stockbridge wrestling team has had a rough season, but the Panthers keep battling and finished 14th out of 17 teams at the Napoleon Invitational Saturday.

The Panthers finished with 25 points and picked up a few wins along the way at the meet.

Jayson Conant finished 5th in the 113-pound weight class. He went 1-2 on the day.  His 35-second pin in the 5th place match was over the Dexter opponent that beat him in his first match of the day.

Chris Conant also earned a 5th-place finish at 132-pounds. He went 3-2 on the day with three pins for the Panthers.

Remi Samek went 1-2 at 120-pounds for the Panthers, while Evan Arbenowske was 1-2 at 157 pounds.

The Panthers picked up a tie and a loss at the Leslie quad Wednesday.

The Panthers tied Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard 33-33 and fell to Leslie 66-18.

Spencer Steinkraus picked up two wins to lead Stockbridge. Chris Conant and Ashton James also picked up wins for the Panthers.

The Panthers split a pair of matches at Maple Valley. They beat the Lions 30-18 and fell to Dansville 54-12.

Wyatt Pierce and Chris Conant picked up wins for the Panthers.

The Panthers dropped four matches at the Olivet Duals in early January.

Jayson Conant went 4-0 on the day to lead Stockbridge.

Chris Conant and Arbenowske each picked up a pair of wins, while Samek and James Lukenich each won one.
