Panthers Can’t Climb Out of Hole Against Lakewood

A slow start doomed the Stockbridge football team Friday night as the Panthers fell to Lakewood 43-26.

The Panthers dug themselves a 22-0 hole early in the second quarter before they would try to make a comeback.

Riley Kennedy scored on a three-yard TD run to cut the lead to 22-6 at halftime. Kevin Killinger then scored with a TD run in the third and a Kennedy two-point conversion run cut the lead to 22-14.

Lakewood scored on a 50-yard TD run, but Kennedy scored his second rushing touchdown of the night to make it 30-20 after three quarters.

The Vikings scored on another TD run, but Kennedy hit Noah Robidou with a 14-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 36-26 in the fourth. The Vikings sealed the win with another TD run to make the final 43-26.

The Panthers committed six turnovers on the night that hurt their chances in the rally.

Kennedy led the team in rushing with 133 yards and two scores and was 7-16 passing for 58 yards and a TD. Drew Philipp rushed for 46 yards and was 3-7 passing for 17 yards.

Robidou caught five passes for 48 yards and a score, Jeremy Pilch three catches for 17 yards, and Killinger two for 10.

Dom Hamlett, Killinger, and Philipp each were in on six tackles to lead the defense.

The Panthers will host Perry Friday night in another GLAC contest.
