Panthers Rally Past Olivet in Overtime

The Stockbridge basketball team overcame a slow start and a 12 point deficit to rally past Olivet 53-50 in overtime Friday night.

The Panthers made just two baskets in the opening quarter and trailed 9-6 after one.

The second quarter wasn’t much better for the Panthers as they continued to struggle from the field, again making just two baskets in the quarter.

Chris Hall led the Panthers with 24 points in overtime win over Olivet.

Chris Hall kept the Panthers in the game however as he went to the line 12 times in the quarter, making eight as the Panthers trailed the Eagles 27-19 at the half.

The offense finally clicked in the third quarter as the Panthers outscored Olivet 16-8 to tie the game at 35 entering the fourth.

The game was back and forth in the fourth, but Olivet hit a triple with three minutes to go to take a five point lead, but the Panthers would again rally.

Olivet scored with 21 seconds left to take a 46-44 lead, but the Panthers tied it up to send it to overtime.

Jeremy Pilch had a double-double of 10 points and 15 rebounds for Stockbridge

Ty Ayers took over in overtime for the Panthers. After being held scoreless for the first four quarters, Ayers scored all seven of the Panthers points in the overtime period as they pulled out the 53-50 comeback win.

Hall led the Panthers with 24 points.

Jeremy Pilch had a double-double of 10 points and 15 rebounds. Ayers and Noah Robidou finished with seven points each, while John Morris added three points and Brandon Nelson two.

The Panthers improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the GLAC. They travel to Lansing Christian Tuesday night and host rival Leslie Friday.
