Panthers Roll Past Manchester, Fall to Chelsea

The boys’ basketball team split a pair of non-league contests last week as they head into league action this week.

The Panthers opened the week by taking down Manchester 63-42.

Drew Philipp scored six and Keegan Collins five as the Panthers took a 13-11 lead after one quarter.

Joey Ballagh hit a pair of triples in the second to spark a 15-6 run to give Stockbridge a 28-17 lead at the break.

The Panthers continued to pour it on in the third as the defense continued to lock down the Dutchmen and holding them to eight in the quarter and pushing the lead to 44-25 after three. Micah Bolton scored six in the third to help push the Panthers to the 19 point lead.

Manchester tried to make a game of it in the fourth, but the Panthers sealed the win at the line, including Collins hitting eight of 12 from the charity stripe in the final period.

Collins finished with a team-high 16 points.

Philipp and Ballagh scored nine each and Drew Robinson eight. David Kluesner added six points, Collin Cook three, and Jake Sawicki two.

The Panthers traveled to Chelsea Friday night and the Bulldogs showed why they are ranked in the top 10 in Division 2 after beating Stockbridge 82-40.

Stockbridge could not overcome the Bulldogs hot-shooting in the first half when Chelsea connected for nine triples to build a 54-21 lead at the half and never looked back.

Robinson led the Panthers with 14 points.

Kluesner added nine points and Collins seven. Bolton chipped in with four points, Ballagh and Philipp three each.

The Panthers return to action Tuesday night when they take on Lansing Christian.
