Panthers Rout Perry in GLAC Opener

The Stockbridge basketball team opened GLAC play last week and came away with a 59-40 rout of Perry.

David Kluesner sparked a fast start by the Panthers with nine first-quarter points to give the Panthers a 13-6 lead after one.

Kluesner would continue to be a force in the second with five more points, while Drew Philipp added five and Keegan Collins four in the quarter to extend the Panther’s lead to 27-15 at the break.

The Panthers would continue to pull away in the third with a 14-8 run behind five from Drew Robinson and four more from Kluesner for a 41-23 lead after three.

Perry would start sending the Panthers to the line in the fourth and Stockbridge would seal the win by making 13 of 17 from the charity stripe to hold on for the win.

Kluesner finished with a team-high 22 points to lead Stockbridge.

Philipp finished with 14 and Collins 10. Robinson added nine and Jake Sawicki four.

The Panthers fell to Pinckney 57-50 in a non-conference game earlier in the week.

Stockbridge trailed 11-10 after one, but the Pirates used an 18-8 run in the second to build a 29-18 lead at the half and the Panthers could not recover.

Collins led the Panthers with 15 points on the night, while Philipp added 13.

Micah Bolton chipped in with six points and Robinson five. Kluesner and Collin Cook scored four each and Sawicki three.

The Panthers opened the season at the Dansville Showcase and fell to Webberville in the season opener.

Collins and Sawicki scored five points each in the first as the Panthers took an early lead, but the Spartans rallied for an 18-17 lead after one.

The game remained close in the second with Webberville outscoring the Panthers 13-12 to hold a 31-29 lead at the half.

The Panthers went cold in the third as the Spartans outscored them 18-5 to take a 49-34 lead after three and cruised to the win.

Collins finished with a team-high 11 points with Sawicki adding 10.

Ballagh hit three triples to finish with night points and Kluesner added four. Robinson struggled with four trouble all night and finished with three. Philipp and Mahler added three each and Bolton one.

The Panthers bounced back and beat Dansville 48-42 in the second game of the Aggie’s showcase Friday night.

A slow start doomed the Panthers in a 61-48 loss to Vandercook Lake at the GLAC/Cascades Challenge at Oliver College Saturday, December 11.

Vandy jumped out to a 19-10 lead after one quarter and extended the lead to 34-18 lead at the half and would cruise to the win.

Philipp led the Panthers with 11 points, while Kluesner added nine.

Robinson and Ballagh scored six each, Cook and Collins five each, Sawicki four, and Mahler two.
