Panthers Struggle with Fifth Straight Loss

After starting the season with four straight wins, the Stockbridge basketball team has hit a rough patch with five straight losses to fall to 4-5 overall on the season.

The Panthers fell to Lakewood 51-45 Thursday night.

The game was close early with the Panthers trailing 8-7 after one and Lakewood clinging to a 17-15 lead at the half.

The Vikings would come out strong in the third, but a Drew Robinson basket at the buzzer cut the Lakewood lead to 36-29 after three.

The Panthers went on a 9-4 run to cut the lead to 40-38, but Lakewood answered to take a 48-43 lead with a tip-in off a rebound with just under two minutes left.

A David Kluesner lay-in cut the Vikings lead to 48-45 with 1:46 left, but the Vikings would seal the win with three free throws down the stretch.

Kluesner and Kegan Collins led the Panthers with 12 points each.

Earlier in the week the Panthers fell to a strong D1 Bedford team 65-41.

The Panthers kept things close for a half with the Mules leading 31-24 at the break. Robinson scored nine and Jake Sawicki eight in the first half to keep the Panthers close.

Bedford would pull away in the third with a 15-7 run to take a 52- 31 lead after three and cruised to the win.

Robinson finished with 14 points to lead the Panthers. Sawicki finished with eight and Collins six. Zac Fletcher added four points, Joey Ballagh three, Jalen Rogozinski, Brock Rochow, and Noah Lewis two each.

The Panthers dropped a GLA matchup with Perry 60-51,

Stockbridge held a 29-27 lead at the half, but the Ramblers rallied to take a 41-36 lead after three.

Perry would sink seven of nine free throws in the fourth to hold off the Panthers.

Ballagh nailed six triples to lead the Panthers with 18 points. Collins finished with 14 points, Rogozinski eight, Robinson seven, and Sawicki four.
