Panthers Wreck Ramblers for Second Straight Win

After a slow start to the season, the Stockbridge football team seems to have righted the ship as the Panthers used a big second quarter to take down Perry 24-19 for their second straight win.

The Panthers spoiled the Ramblers night in more ways than one as they probably ruined any chances Perry had of making the playoffs, dropping them to 3-4 overall on the season and also it was Perry’s Homecoming.

Once again the Stockbridge defense did its job keeping Perry off the board. In a bend but don’t break style, the Ramblers rushed for 243 yards and passed for 73 more, but could not find the endzone when they threatened.

Perry took a 6-0 with a 40 yard TD run in the first quarter.

Stockbridge bounced back in a big way in the second putting 21 points on the board to take a 21-6 lead into halftime.

Brandon Nelson hit Lucas Gauss with a two-yard TD pass and a Micah Beauregard kick made it 7-6.

Nelson then hit Jeremy Pilch with a 78-yard scoring pass and Beauregard’s kick made it 14-6 and Nelson then hit Josh Lewis with a 14-yard scoring pass to make it 21-6 at the break.

Perry cut the lead to 21-13 with a scoring pass in the third, but a Beauregard 27-yard field goal made it 24-13 in the fourth.

The Ramblers scored with a 10-yard run and had to go for two, but the conversion failed to make the final 24-19.

Nelson finished 9 of 19 for 188 yards and three touchdowns.

Pilch caught three passes for 103 yards and a score, Noah Robidou three for 47, Lewis two for 37 and a TD, and Gauss one for the two-yard TD.

Lewis had a big game on the defensive side with seven solo and four assists. Ty Ayers was in on 11 tackles, Beauregard and Gauss seven each.

The Panthers improved to 2-5 overall on the season and finished 2-2 in the GLAC. They make a long road trip to play Wyoming Lee (2-5) Friday night.
