Rochow’s Big Night Lifts Panthers past Lansing Christian

Senior Brooklyn Rochow has taken it to another level since the holiday break and helped the varsity girls win two of three games.

Rochow was averaging just 4.5 points a game in the Panthers first seven games but has exploded for a 15.3 average in the last three, including career-bests in her last two games.

She has posted double-doubles the last two games including a career-high 21 points and 11 rebounds Tuesday night to help the Panthers to a 49-31 win over Lansing Christian to improve to 3-0 in the GLAC and 6-4 overall on the season.

The appearance of Rochow’s scoring has given the Panthers a big third option in the scoring column to go along with high scorers Gwen Rogozinski and Alaina Kellenberger.

The Panthers jumped out to a 15-9 lead over the Pilgrims behind four points each by Rochow, Rogozinski, and Kellenberger Tuesday night.

Rochow scored six in the second to go with four from Rogozinski as the Panthers lead grew to 27-19 at the half.

The Panther defense locked down in the third holding the Pilgrims to just two points to push the lead to 34-21 after three.

Rochow scored nine in the fourth, including hitting three of four from the free throw line as the Panthers pulled away for the win.

To go along with Rochow’s 21, Rogozinski finished with nine point and eight assists. Kellenberger added eight points, three blocks, and three steals, while Rylee Tolson added five points and nine rebounds. Taylor Lockhart chipped in with four points and Paige Stolarz two.

The Panthers travel to Olivet Friday night for a big GLAC showdown with the Eagles. The two teams faced off in  GLAc title deciding game last season and both are near the top of the standings again so far this year.
