Soccer Falls to Perry on Senior Night

The Stockbridge soccer team celebrated Senior night for seven athletes September 23rd, but came up on the short end of a 4-2 decision at the hands of Perry.

The game was evenly played by both teams as the Panthers and Ramblers both had quality chances in the early going.

Perry broke through and took an early lead, but the Panthers continued to pressure and evened it with a goal by Jonah Husky.

The game was tied at halftime, but the Ramblers came out quick in the second half. Perry scored early in the second half to make it 2-1 and the Panthers were called for a hand ball inside the box a short time later, giving Perry a penalty kick. The Ramblers capitalized by finding the net on the PK to make it 3-1.

A stunned Panthers team struggled to recover and another bad bounce off a Panthers defender went right to a Rambler forward who drilled it home to make it 4-1.

The Panthers continued to press and tried to make a game of it when Luke Suojanen drilled one home to make it 4-2, but that is as close as they would get.

Stockbridge will return to action Wednesday at Leslie.
