St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea receives “A” grade for patient safety

Hospital recognized as national leader for preventing medical errors, injuries,
accidents, infections and other harms to patients in its care.

Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, which assigns A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationally for protecting patients from harm and having the highest safety standards, announced that St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea received an “A” ranking on its Spring 2019 scorecard.  This is the fourteenth “A” ranking for the hospital.
Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
St. Joe’s Chelsea’s sister hospital, St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, also received an A grade.  To see full grade details for St. Joe’s Chelsea, and to access patient tips for staying safe in the hospital, please visit www.hospitalsafetygrade.org.
