On Friday, Jan. 25, Stockbridge High School (SHS) held its annual Coming Home basketball game to welcome home alumni of the school district.

In a close contest between the Olivet High School Eagles and the Stockbridge High School Panthers the varsity boys basketball team lost with a final score of 56-60.

While it may have been the basketball team’s big night, a great deal of behind-the-scenes work had to be done by the SHS student council for the event to take place. “It was hard putting this year’s Coming Home event together, especially since the last two meetings we were supposed to have got canceled due to snow days so everyone had to scramble. Another member and I made a group chat on Snapchat and we all figured out what we were going to do from there.”  commented senior student council member Abbey Salyer.

Among the festivities during the night were a 50/50 raffle, a miniature float competition, and the crowning of the Coming Home king. “I’m surprised we even did the miniature floats,” Salyer said. “We never talked about it much in the meetings, but the underclassmen pulled together  and managed to bring a lot of things for decorations.”

The class of 2023 won the float competition, and the reigning king of the 2019 Coming Home Court was senior Andrew Ziegler, escorted by senior Isabella Trevisan.
