Ballet Chelsea is proud to present the 20th Anniversary performance of The Nutcracker in December, 2017. A new collaboration with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra adds to the excitement by bringing music and dance together for three performances in Jackson and Washtenaw counties, raising the visibility of the arts in both communities.
This collaboration draws on the talents of Matthew Aubin, Music Director of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra and Wendi DuBois, Artistic Director of Ballet Chelsea, in creating an enchanting holiday performance that will also feature new costumes and sets for the 20th Anniversary performance. Both organizations draw broad audiences from southern Michigan and the joint production highlights the contributions of many talented artists from numerous mid-Michigan communities.
The narrated production is family friendly, combining the beauty of ballet, the excitement of live music, and the joy of a holiday classic story. Performances will take place on December 8th at Jackson’s Potter Center and December 9th and 10th at Chelsea High School. Tickets go on sale November 1st at balletchelsea.org or jacksonsymphony.org.
