From the Superintendent’s Desk: Governor recognizes Stockbridge as one of 11 School Systems leading the way
By Karl Heidrich
Feb. 21, Governor Snyder unveiled the Marshall Plan for Talent, a statewide partnership of “educators, employers and other stakeholders to transform Michigan’s talent pipeline and redesign the ways we invest, develop and attract talent in our state.” During the rollout, the governor recognized Stockbridge Community Schools, along with 10 other school districts across the state, as “already leading the way.”
Our district continues to offer a diverse secondary curriculum. We have several advanced placement courses, career and technical education courses, and a strong group of electives, including Fine Arts, Robotics, Leadership, and Journalism.
Within our curriculum is a focus on problem-based learning and real world, authentic learning experiences, as in our comprehensive K-12 STEM education program. STEM and other programs offer authentic instruction in education and can lead to the development of talent that employers seek.
As we continue to strengthen our curriculum, we shall maintain our commitment to helping guide students to their post-secondary choices and endeavors, whether they aspire to a four-year university, community college, apprenticeship, or technical school. We recognize the importance of maintaining effective communications with employers, colleges and universities to ensure that our curriculum matches their needs and the needs of our students. Our goal is to safeguard that as our students graduate, they are well prepared to pursue their dreams.
