Experimental Aircraft Association – Chapter 55 to host Aviation-Oriented events at Mason Jewett Airport

FREE AIRPLANE RIDES FOR KIDS:

Chapter 55 will host three YOUNG EAGLE AVIATION DAYS; Saturday, June 9; Saturday, July 14; and Saturday, August 11. Registration is from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Local pilots will be offering area youngsters ages 8 to 17 an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane (weather permitting). These flights are offered FREE of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member pilots and volunteers. Flights will be on a first come, first served basis; approximately 20 minutes in length. A parent or guardian MUST be present or provide a signed permission slip.

Young Eagles Aviation Day is part of the National EAA Young Eagles Program. Local Chapter 55 pilots have flown over 4,000 youngsters from the mid-Michigan area.

Chapter 55 will host a Dawn Patrol PANCAKE BREAKFAST on Sunday, June 10 from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The “All-U-Can Eat” pancakes will be served with eggs, sausage, juice and coffee. Airplane rides will be available for purchase (weather permitting).

MASON AVIATION DAY:

Chapter 55 will host MASON AVIATION DAY on Saturday, August 18th. For breakfast, “All-U-Can Eat” pancakes will be served with eggs, sausage, juice and coffee 7:30am to 11:00am. Then, a Sandwich Lunch (BBQ Pork Sandwiches/Brats/Dogs) will be available from Noon to 2:00pm. Airplane rides will be available for purchase (weather permitting). Many homebuilt, antique, warbird and general aviation aircraft are expected throughout the day, along with a variety of displays and exhibits.

All Chapter 55 events are held at Mason Jewett Airport; Eden Road at Kipp Road (south of the Ingham County Fairgrounds). Admission and parking for all events is FREE. Donations benefit the Newberry Aviation Scholarship Fund.
