The Stockbridge Women’s Soccer Team traveled to Barry County Christian on Monday, May 21 for their second to last regular season match of the 2018 season. Despite a steady cold rain during much of the contest, the Panthers came home with a 4-1 win.

Panther forward, Faith Whitt, scored early in the match on an unassisted left field shot from 20 yards out. Barry County tied the score several minutes later with a short shot that skidded through the rain and mud into the Panther net. Stockbridge was surprised by the score, but not for long. Shots by Brittany Freiermuth, Baylee Heidrich, and Brianna Hill tested their opponents’ defense.

Then Faith Whitt outmaneuvered the Barry County defense to put the Panthers ahead with a second goal before the teams broke for the half.

Stockbridge dominated the second half of the match. As the rain lightened each Barry County offensive run was denied. Payton Killinger and Paige Brown provided key turns. Maria Risner added a clear. Anna Schlaff, Evelyn Ortiz-Martinez, and Baylee Heidrich supplied steals to return the ball to the Panther offense. Sylvia Whitt, Faith Whitt, and Megan Catron made strong shots on goal with Faith connecting for a third goal. Megan Catron then blasted a high mid-field goal shot that stretched the Stockbridge lead to three goals before the match ended. The 4-1 victory gave Stockbridge their 8th win and moved their season record to 8/7/3.
