From the Superintendent’s Desk:
Dear Parents and Community:
We are having a terrific start to the school year. We had a fantastic Homecoming week in September. It was impressive to see all of the school spirit and panther pride at every school building in the district.
October is upon us, and that means parent teacher conferences are on the horizon. Student success in education works best when we develop strong relationships with parents. We strongly encourage your participation at parent teacher conferences to strengthen this relationship. The following are upcoming dates and times for conferences:
Junior/Senior High October 2nd and 3rd from 4-7 p.m.
Heritage November 6th and 7th from 4-7 p.m.
Smith November 13th and 14th from 4-7 p.m.
As Winter season approaches, it is always appropriate to remind parents what happens when school is closed or delayed. Generally, we make every effort to decide by 5:45 a.m. Stockbridge Community Schools operates on either a two-hour delay or full school day closure. During a two-hour delay school operates two hours after the normal school start time. We announce closings and delays through a combination of districtwide all calls, email, social media, and text messaging. We also post delays or closings on WLNS Channel 6 and WILX Channel 10.
Finally, I would like to welcome and introduce Jill Ogden as our new Board of Education member. Jill was selected to fill the vacant Board of Trustee position and will serve until the next regular school election. She is the current PTO President and has lived in the district for over eight years. Jill expressed, both in her letter of application to the Board of Education and in her interview, her passion for public education and interest in continuing to nurture a positive school culture and community pride for all students. Jill has five children in the school district.
Go Panthers!
