Big Second Half Lifts Panthers Past Lakewood

Second half struggles have been common for the Stockbridge boys basketball team of late especially the third quarter, but Friday night was different as the Panthers scored 43 second half points including 23 in the third quarter as the pulled away from Lakewood for a 71-58 win.

The Panthers took a 15-12 lead after one quarter behind nine points for Chris Hall.

Lakewood rallied in the second outscoring the Panthers 18-13 to take a 30-28 lead at the half.

Stockbridge came out firing in the third behind eight points by Brandon Nelson. They outscored the Vikings 23-16 to take a 51-46 lead into the final quarter.

Noah Robidou scored seven fourth quarter points to help the Panthers outscore the Vikings 20-12 to put the game away.

Hall finished with a team high 26 points to lead Stockbridge.

Robidou finished with 16 points, while Nelson had 10 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. John Morris and Jeremy Pilch scored seven points each and Tylin Ayers five.

The Panthers improved to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the GLAC. They are tied with Perry and Leslie for the top spot in the conference at the midway points of the league season. They travel to Concord Monday and host Fowlerville Tuesday in non-league contests.
