Lady Panthers Avenge Loss to Lansing Christian
The Stockbridge girls’ basketball team avenged their lone GLAC loss to date by defeating Lansing Christian 56-46 Tuesday night.
Lansing Christian defeated the Panthers 49-48 in January, but the Panthers got their revenge Tuesday night and stayed atop the GLAC standings with three games to go.
Behind seven first quarter points by Grace Hall and five by Kaylee Dalton the Panthers jumped out to a 20-6 lead after one quarter.
The Pilgrims fought their way back into the game in the second by outscoring the Panthers 16-11 to cut the Stockbridge lead to 31-22 at the break.
Lansing Christian cut the lead to two 35-33, but Gwen Rogozinski took over for the Panthers. She scored nine third quarter points to help the Panthers hold a 42-36 lead after three.
The Panthers scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter to pull away for a 50-36 lead. Rogozinski scored 11 in the fourth including five of six from the free throw line down the stretch.
Rogozinski finished with a team high 27 points.
Hall finished with 11 points, while Chelsey Asquith and Dalton scored six each. Brooklyn Rochow and Makayla Surline added three points each for the Panthers.
The Panthers improved to 13-3 overall and 8-1 in the GLAC. They travel to Olivet Friday night at 5:30 PM.
