Lady Panthers Rout Blissfield in District Opener

A fast start from the opening whistle by the Stockbridge girls’ basketball team helped the Panthers take a big early lead and cruise to a 74-33 rout of Blissfield in the Division 2 district opener at Tecumseh Monday night.

The Panthers jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the opening two minutes and never looked back as they took a 24-4 lead after one.

Gwen Rogozinski scored 13 points in the first quarter and senior Chelsey Asquith scored seven to help spark the Panthers first quarter run.

Kaylee Dalton and Rogozinski scored seven each in the second as the Panthers lead grew to 40-18 at the break.

Blissfield would get within 16 early in the third, but Madison Mazuca stopped the run with eight points in the third while Asquith and Dalton scored four each and the lead was extended to 58-21 after three and they cruised in the fourth.

Rogozinski finished with a team high 27 points.

Dalton added 13 and Asquith 11. Mazuca chipped in with nine, Grace Hall eight, Gracee Robidou, Alaina Kellenberger, and Brooklyn Rochow two each.

The Panthers advance to Wednesday’s semifinals where they will face Chelsea at 5:30 PM in Tecumseh.
