Waterloo Township Board Meeting Unapproved Minutes  December 22, 2021 

Call to Order and Pledge: 7:00 p.m.

Present:  Lance, Morency, McAlister, Kitley, and 7 residents.  Absent: Walz.

Public Comment:  None

Consent Agenda: Kitley motioned with support from McAlister to accept the consent agenda as presented.  Aye/all; no/none.  Absent: Walz.  Motion carried.  There was a police report for November read by Lance.   Deputies assigned to Waterloo Township responded to 30 calls and made 30 traffic stops.  The Sheriff’s office responded to a total of 20 calls for service.  Michigan State Police responded to 24 calls for service.

Correspondence:  Lance read a letter from the State of Michigan, Department of Treasury, commending Waterloo Township and our Assessor for a perfect score in providing fair and equitable assessing.  They also included a certificate.

Old Business: None

New Business:  Planning Commission had no additions to Principle Uses or Topic Review List.  They reviewed several open issues in Section 11 and discussed and reviewed options for Section 11.18 Multiple Household Dwellings.  They are requesting the Township Board to give opinion and direction to rewrite this section to allow only duplex dwellings.  They also reviewed and updated Section 11.20 C & D.  Grant Bauman of the Region 2 Planning Commission will be visiting at the next Planning Commission meeting to discuss updating our maps.  They also are looking at the Summit Township Noise Ordinance to help in reworking ours.

The following were action items addressed at the meeting:

  • Lance motioned with support from McAlister to approve the Land Division application from the Walz Family Trust Parent Parcel #000-05-21-100-001-19 resulting in 3 split parcels, contingent on Tax #s being assigned to the individual parcels. Aye all; no/none.  Absent:    Motion carried.

Other Items That Come Before The Board:

Public Comment:  Catherine Upton stated that they are on the radar for repair work at the Clear Lake County Park.  They also had the driveway into the park graded but unfortunately, they also graded into the neighbor’s yard.  It’s being looked into because of the property damage next door.

Adjournment:  McAlister motioned with support from Morency to adjourn at 7:25 p.m.

The next Planning Commission meeting will be Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.  The next regular board meeting will be on January 25, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.  Minutes will be published in the Stockbridge Community News at the end of each month, on our website waterlootwpmi.com and on our Facebook page at: waterlootownshipmichigan.
