Are you a veteran in need of assistance? Here are some ideas about where to start looking. NOTE: This is by no means a complete list of available services but a good starting point.

The Veterans Crisis Line: Offers 24/7 confidential crisis support for veterans and their loved ones. If a veteran or veteran’s loved one is in crisis, dial 988 and press 1 to talk to a caring, qualified responder.

VA Health Benefits Service Center provides assistance with the full spectrum of healthcare services offered by the VA, including inpatient, outpatient, pharmacy, dental care and others. Call 877-222-8387 or look online at va.gov/healthbenefits/apply/

Military OneSource is a helpful resource when transitioning out of the military. For information go to militaryonesource.mil for information.

Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA): To get started understanding what programs are available to veterans (including National or Air Guard personnel), call 1-800-MICH-VET. Or look online at michigan.gov/mvaa. NOTE: VA benefits are federal benefits provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. MVAA has no official connection or jurisdiction over federal VA benefits. However, MVAA’s Veteran Service Officers are experts on federal benefits and can assist Michigan veterans in applying for their federal VA benefits.

Michigan Veterans Resource Service Center (MVRSC): A collaborative partnership between the MVAA and Michigan 211, MVRSC helps veterans and their families access discharge documents, get connected to Veteran Service Officers and find services to assist in their communities. Call 800-MICH-VET (800-642-4838).

Stockbridge Community Outreach: Assists any area residents—veterans and nonveterans alike—primarily through a food pantry, weekly fresh food distribution, and a free clothing store.
