Longtime Unadilla Township trustee Lori Cowan has resigned from the township board after 24 years of service. Lori was instrumental in facilitating all things recreation for the township, helping to oversee Unadilla Park as well as Unadilla Township’s portion of the Lakeland Trail system.

Cowan has partnered with many organizations over the years, including the DNR, 5 Healthy Towns, Great Start Livingston, and a number of federal programs in an effort to keep the Township’s recreation infrastructure safe, modern, and accessible.

She began her run as a trustee in 2001 and has gained much respect over the years for her ability to stand firm in her values, while, as a Democrat, setting a great example of bipartisanship alongside fellow board members.

On Sept. 11, the board accepted Cowan’s resignation and moved to appoint Gregory resident Karen Houghtaling to fill Cowan’s seat for a partial term.
