Obituary: Don E. Tippin

Don E. Tippin, age 87, of Stockbridge, Michigan, passed away on July 3, 2026, at Arbor North Living Center in Jackson. Don was born on May 21, 1939, in Cranberry Twp, Ohio, the son of Earl and Kathleen (Sutter) Tippin.
On August 2, 1959, he married Marilyn J. (Sand), and together they shared nearly 67 years of marriage. Don was a lifelong learner, earning his Bachelor of Science in Education from Kent State University and a Master’s degree from The Ohio State University. His career as an educator in the Stockbridge School Systems spanned over 19 years, retiring in 2002.

His faith in Jesus Christ was central in his life. He taught many Bible studies, was a lay leader in the United Methodist church and led disaster relief teams to hurricane affected areas for many years.

Through his words and actions, he instilled the importance of Christian faith to his children. His hobbies included reading, golfing, carving, woodworking and watching the weather. He especially enjoyed making footlockers and cedar chests for family.

Don is survived by his wife, Marilyn; three children: Daneen (George) DeMaagd of Tennessee, Kevin (Debra) Tippin of Sanford, and Bret (Linda) Tippin of Jackson; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Janet Eckstein, Sue Bartley, and Terry Nolan; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Sand, all of Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at JaxNaz Church, 3905 Clinton Road, Jackson, with Pastor Rick Webb officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Munith Cemetery.
