North Lake United Methodist Church in Chelsea celebrates 190 years
Information provided by North Lake Church
North Lake United Methodist Church is celebrating the past and building for the future. The church is recognizing a remarkable milestone this year: 190 years of ministry, faith, and service in the community. Since its founding in 1836, North Lake UMC has been woven into the story of the local community. For generations people have gathered to worship, celebrate life, mourn losses, raise families, serve neighbors, and grow in faith together. Now, 190 years later, the church is celebrating its legacy while building for what comes next.
“Our history is significant as it is a reminder that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves,” said Pastor Trish Farrell. “As we celebrate, we are also building on that legacy foundation for what God is calling us to next.”
The church, located at 14111 North Territorial Road in Chelsea, is committed to fostering a spirit of inclusion, compassion, and engagement in both local and community life while embracing a forward-thinking approach to ministry that combines modern life with creativity and relevance.
On Sunday, Sept. 20, the 190th Anniversary Celebration will feature guest speaker Bishop Rev. David Bard in worship at 10 a.m. Presentation and celebration will follow with guests including founding families, former pastors, and state/local leaders.
