JV girls basketball beat Dexter 29-23
By: Darren Hejnal
The Stockbridge JV girls basketball won a hard fought game against Dexter Thursday night by a score of 29-23. Both teams played tremendous defense and points were hard to come by. Neither team led by more than four until late in the fourth quarter when Stockbridge sealed the game making some crucial free throws. Coach Hejnal stated after the game, “These are the games that are fun to coach and fun to be a part of. Our girls worked their butts off on the defensive end of the court and that is what proved to be the difference. Our help side defense and on the ball pressure was the best we have done all season. We have been working on it and it paid off tonight. Any time you beat a class A school like Dexter, you need to feel proud of what you have accomplished. I am so happy for the girls.” As Coach Hejnal stated it was a total team effort on the defensive end that proved to be the difference. Kaylee Dalton led the team in scoring 13, of which 5 were free throws down the stretch in the fourth quarter. Madi Mazuca added 7 points, while Hailee Fraser-Gutting chipped in with 5. Ori Hackworth and Sylvia Whitt rounded out the scoring for the Panthers. The win improves their record to 11-4 on the season.
