Air Force ‘Singing Sergeants’ to honor veterans on a Midwestern Tour

The United States Air Force Band’s Singing Sergeants from Washington, D.C. are heading out on a seven-day community relations tour to Ohio and Michigan. The tour honors the service of Airmen both past and present and showcases Air Force excellence to communities across the midwestern part of the country.

All concerts are free and open to the public though tickets are required. Ticket information for these concerts is available at www.music.af.mil/Bands/The-United-States-Air-Force-Band/Events/

Below is location information about performances in Michigan:

  • Detroit: Thursday, June 20 at 7:00 p.m., St. John’s Episcopal Church, 2326 Woodward Ave.
  • Ann Arbor: Friday, June 21 at 7:00 p.m., First Congregational Church of Ann Arbor 608 E. William St.
  • Holland: Saturday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m., Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts 221 Columbia Ave.
  • Traverse City: Sunday, June 23 at 7:00 p.m., St. Francis Catholic Church 1025 S. Union St.
  • Interlochen: Monday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m., Interlochen Center for the Arts Corson Auditorium 4000 J. Maddy Pkwy.

Senior Master Sgt. Taylor Armstrong, Music Director for the Singing Sergeants, is thrilled to be on tour with the United States Air Force Band in the midwestern United States.

“The Singing Sergeants greatly enjoy bringing choral music to communities across the country, and we look forward to connecting and sharing with live audiences in June,” said Armstrong. “I am honored to stand in front of this talented ensemble of vocalists who represent the very best of the United States Air Force.”

The Singing Sergeants are one of the six performing ensembles within The United States Air Force Band, the premier musical organization of the U.S. Air Force. Stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C., The United States Air Force Band honors those who have served, inspires American citizens to heightened patriotism and service, and connects with the global community on behalf of the U.S. Air Force and the United States of America.
