Baseball Has Up and Down Couple of Weeks

The varsity baseball team has had an up and down couple of weeks and sees its record sitting at 11-10-1 overall after a doubleheader split with Lansing Christian Monday.

The Panthers took a 5-2 lead in the opener, but the Pilgrims rallied for two in the fifth and three in the sixth to take the game 7-5.

Dalton Satkowiak had a double and RBI, while Zach Fletcher added a single and RBI. Ashton Knoll and Dakoda Whitaker had a hit and run scored each.

Stockbridge bats boomed in the second game as the Panthers collected 14 hits and took the nightcap 14-10.

Drew Philipp had a huge game with three hits, five RBI, and three runs scored. Fletcher finished with three hits and an RBI and Knoll three hits, and four runs scored. Ty Andrews added two hits and two runs scored and Collin Cook two hits and an RBI. Cook earned the win on the mound with six strikeouts.

The Panthers took 2 of 3 from Lakewood last week. They split the opening doubleheader by winning 6-2 and falling 11-1.

Philipp struck out 12 and tossed a 2-hitter in the opener for the complete-game win for Stockbridge.

Knoll, Drew Robinson, Philipp, Fletcher, Satkowiak, and Jack McLennan each had a hit and RBI for the Panthers.

Stockbridge struggled in the nightcap with just two hits and the Vikings scored in every inning to hand the Panthers the loss. Philipp drove in the only run with a double for Stockbridge. Satkowiak had the team’s other hit.

The Panthers won the series with a barn burning 3-2 walk-off win over Lakewood.

Stockbridge led 2-1 heading to the 7th, but the Vikings tied the game in the top of the inning.

McLennan singled with one out in the bottom of the seventh and advanced to second on a passed ball. A pop-up made it two outs when Robinson stepped to the plate and drilled a single to center to score McLennan for the walk-off win.

Robinson finished with the game-winning single and two RBI, while Knoll had two hits. Andrew and McLennan each had a hit and run scored. Knoll tossed a complete-game three-hitter with 6 k’s for the in.

The Panthers dropped a pair to Whitmore Lake 14-6 and 10-5.

Fletcher led the offense with two hits and three RBI, while Robinson had two hits and two runs scored and Knoll two hits and one run scored in the opener. Whitaker and Cook each added a hit and RBI.

The second game saw Robinson collect two hits and an RBI to lead the offense. Cook added a hit and RBI and Philipp a hit and run scored.

The Panthers dropped two of three against Maple Valley.

They fell in the opener 7-6 on a 7th inning run by the Lions. Fletcher had two hits and an RBI, while Kegan Collins had a hit and two RBI. Philipp had two hits and a run scored, and Satkowiak and Cook a hit and run each.

They bounced back to take the second game 7-2 behind the complete game win by Cook. He struck out four and allowed six hits for the win.

Satkowiak led the offense with three hits, two RBI, and two runs scored. Robinson and Philipp each had two hits and an RBI, and Fletcher a hit and two runs scored.

The Panthers dropped the third game of the series 9-2. Fletcher had a hit and RBI and Philipp a hit and run scored for Stockbridge.
