Baseball Takes Three from Maple Valley

The varsity baseball team has played a lot of close games over the past couple of weeks but came away with a three-game sweep of Maple Valley.

The Panthers opened with a 6-4 ten-inning win over the Lions.

The game was tied 4-4 after seven and went into extra innings. In the tenth, Ashton Knoll scored on a wild pitch and Drew Philipp stole third and scored on a throwing error by the catcher to make it 6-4. Andrew Davis set the side down in order in the bottom of the tenth to earn the win for the Panthers.

Aiden Trost had a big game at the plate with four hits, including a pair of doubles.

Dalton Satkowiak finished with three hits and two RBI and Davis a hit and RBI. Ashton Knoll and Austin Knoll both had a hit and run scored.

The Panthers then took down Maple Valley 6-3.

Stockbridge built a 6-0 lead after five and held off the Lions for the win.

Davis led the offense with three hits and an RBI, while Spencer McLennan had two hits and an RBI. Ashton Knoll chipped in with a hit and two RBI, Austin Knoll a hit and RBI, Philipp and Stkowiak a hit and run scored each, Trost and Drew Robinson one hit each.

Philipp earned the win striking out four.

The Panthers finished the sweep with a 6-2 win.

Stockbridge scored in each of the first four innings to take a 6-1 lead and cruised to the win.

Austin Knoll had a big game with three hits and two RBI. McLennan had the Panthers other hit as they took advantage of eight walks by Maple Valley pitchers.

Ashton Knoll earned the win by striking out four in four innings of work. Noah Hughes earned the save on the mound for the Panthers.

Quincy Tournament

The Panthers dropped a pair of close games at the Quincy Tournament May 8.

The dropped the first game to Quincy 8-7 in eight innings.

Stockbridge took a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh, but Quincy scored to tie it to send the game into extra innings.

Robinson hit a sacrifice fly to plate Satkowiak in the top of the eighth, but the Orioles scored two in the bottom of the inning for the walk-off win.

Philipp led the offense with two hits and two RBI, while Robinson had two hits and an RBI. Josh Casey had a hit and two RBI, Davis a double and RBI, Ashton and Austin Knoll one hit each.

The Panthers could not overcome an early 6-1 deficit and fell to Adrian-Madison 6-4 in the second game.

Trost had two hits and an RBI, Davis a hit and RBI, Satkowiak and Philipp a hit and run scored each, and Ashton Knoll one hit.

Lakewood

The Panthers dropped three games to Lakewood May 10-12.

The Vikings took the opener 8-0. Austin Knoll had two hits, while Dom Hamlett, Trost, Robinson, and Hughes each had one hit.

The Panthers dropped the second game 7-0.

Davis went 3-3 to lead the offense, while Austin Knoll had two hits. Trost and McLennan each added one hit.

The third game saw the Panthers fall behind 7-0 and rally, but it was not enough as the fell to the Vikings 7-5.

Philipp and Robinson each had two hits and an RBI to lead the offense. Davis added two hits and Trost a double and two RBI.

Olivet

The Panthers made up the third game of the series with Olivet that was postponed earlier in the season and fell to the Eagles 4-1.

Trost had two hits and Philipp a hit and run scored for the Panthers.

Perry

The Panthers dropped a pair of hard fought 5-4 decision to the Ramblers with both losses coming in the last at bat for Perry.

Robinson had a double and two RBI to lead the Panthers at the plate. Philipp had a double and RBI, while Austin Knoll and Trost had one hit each in the opener.

Austin Knoll led the offense with two hits and two runs scored. Satkowiak had two hits including a double, while Philipp had a hit and two RBI.

The Panthers fell to 5-13 overall on the season.
