Christmas on the Farm holds a successful silent auction
by Joan Tucker
Christmas on the Farm continues to be a local holiday event that attracts new visitors as well as the devoted winter crowd enjoying the Christmas spirit.
One of the major attractions is the silent auction. Holiday baskets, a boy’s bike, a photo shoot and airplane ride gift certificate were part of this year’s fundraiser.
Arlene Kaiser, organizer of the silent auction, also put together beautiful holiday baskets. Some of her themed baskets included a spa basket (one of the most popular), cookie baking basket, bird feeding basket, coffee and hot chocolate baskets. This silent auction has grown in popularity with people returning each year to do a little holiday shopping or treat themselves.
The silent auction raised about $1,300. Admissions from Pioneer Day, Christmas on the Farm, and proceeds from the silent auction cover day-to-day costs, such as utilities, insurance, and physical upkeep of the Waterloo Farm Museum. Together, these activities should provide another year of opportunity for visitors in 2022.
