Cross Country Teams Run at Springport, Tolson Sets School Record
Another race, another school record for Stockbridge sophomore Rylee Tolson.
Tolson flew through the course in a record time of 18:12 to shatter her own school record which she set last week at South Lyon by 16 seconds. The time of 18:12 is the 8th fastest time in the state for girls’ cross country in 2019 in all divisions.
The first-place finish by Tolson helped the Lady Panthers earn a third-place finish at the Springport Invite. Stockbridge finished with 80 points, behind Coldwater with 69 and Marshall 37.
Junior Brianna Hill finished fifth in 21:06 for the Panthers, while sophomore Kaitelyn Walker was 18th in 21:56.
Freshman Grace Niec set aa PR with a time of 23:10 and finished 25th, while senior Rachel Owen was 31st in 23:48. Senior Isabelle Bliss set a PR with a time of 23:52 and finished 3nd, while senior Anna Schlaff was 40th in 25:17.
The boys’ team with no seniors in their top seven, came away with a 4th place finish at Springport.
The Panthers finished with 134 points, behind Marshall 85, Chelsea 78, and Hanover-Horton 24.
Five of the seven runners for the Panthers ran PR’s.
They were led by sophomore Dalton Satkowiak with an 18:13 and 21st place finish. He took 16 seconds off his previous best time.
Freshman Micah Bolton knocked 57 seconds off his best time and finished 23rd in 18:22, while freshman Collin Cook knocked 34 seconds off his previous best to finish 25th in 18:30.
Junior Andy Schlaff finished 27th in 18:37, followed by junior Brock Jones with a time of 19:21 and a 36th place finish.
Sophomore Ben Chapman PR’d with a time of 19:39, 30 seconds better than his previous best and finished 40th while sophomore Brandon Howlett was 41st with a PR of 19:44, knocking five seconds off his previous best time.
The teams will compete in the Bret Clements Bath Invitational Saturday.
