The Village of Stockbridge office and police department are still located in the former Middle School. They aren’t moving and want you to know that the entrance is in the rear of the building off Cherry Street.

In other words, no signs along the right of way between the sidewalks and street, but you can put up signs on private property with the owner’s permission.

As the weather warms and the snow disappears, activities in our community increase, and people want to advertise what is happening. Everyone should be aware of the rules that govern public advertising:

Sec. 18-49.  Littering.

(2) Posting.

  1. No person shall attach, place, paint, write, stamp or paste any sign, advertisement or any other matter upon any lamp post, electric light, railway, telephone pole, shade tree, or fire hydrant, or box covering the same; or any bridge, pavement, sidewalk or crosswalk, public building, or any property belonging to the village or any article within any park excdept a public official authorized to do so in an official capacity.
  2. No person shall attach, place, paint, write, stamp or paste, any sign advertisement or any matter upon any house, wall, fence, gate, post, tree, or treebox, without having first obtained the written permission of the owner, agent, or occupant of the premises.
