Drew Robinson Signs to Play Football at Anderson University

Stockbridge senior Drew Robinson’s love for football was known before he even started kindergarten and it has never slowed now that he is graduating high school.

Robinson’s love for the game has led to much success and is now leading him to the next step by signing to play football at Anderson University in Indiana.

Being a three-sport athlete, Robinson said football wasn’t his only favorite sport.

“I started playing flag football in Mason when I was four and joined the Panther TD Club in third grade,” Robinson said. ” I realized in high school that football was my sport of choice, but growing up my favorite sport was really whatever season I was in at the time, whether it was basketball or baseball.”

Robinson has played varsity football, basketball, baseball, and is now a member of the Stockbridge varsity golf team.

When choosing Anderson, the distance to the college was a key to his decision. “Anderson is just over three hours from Stockbridge, so I think it is perfect because it is not too close, but also not too far from home.”

“I gained a great relationship with the wide receiver coach at Anderson,” Robinson said. “He has a vision for me and that is the school I really felt most welcomed, and it felt like family there rather than some of the other schools I visited.”

When asked about his favorite memories about playing football at Stockbridge, he recalled back to his freshman season.

“My freshman year when we played Columbia central in the playoff game, I was playing corner and I had a game winning deflection in the endzone, that won the game for the Panthers. The atmosphere of that game was something I will never forget,” Robinson said. “I would say another one would be this past year’s homecoming game when it was nasty weather and everything and we were down at halftime and people thought the game was over. The weather was bad so most people went home and then we came out in the second half and just pounded them and came back and won.”
Robinson has several people the influenced his love of football. “My biggest influence is probably my dad. We would always wake up on Saturday and always watch college game day on tv and it just made me fall in love with the game and made me want to play on a Saturday after high school as well. My mom is also one because I always want to make her proud, so I kind of just think of her in the back of my head whether it’s a game or a workout and just push myself so I can have a good day and came make her proud.” Not really influences but my brother, sister, and my uncle Travis have also been some of the biggest supporters in my sports career along with the rest of my family and I couldn’t be more grateful for that,” Robinson said.
Robinson is still undecided about his major at Anderson but is looking at Business or Sports Management and would like to someday become an Athletic Director.
Before heading to school Robinson had one more thing to say.  “I would just like to thank everyone in the community for always supporting me and I am going to make a name for myself in Anderson.”
