LOCATION of Rehearsals: Stockbridge Presbyterian Church basement at 101 S. Center Street in downtown Stockbridge

DATE OF Rehearsals: Monday evenings starting September 12 (September 12, 19, 26, October 3, 10, 17, 24, (not on Halloween), November 7, 14, 21, 28)

Calling all singers!

The Stockbridge Area Arts Council is once again putting on a community Festival Chorus that is free to participants. This year's chorus will be directed by retired Stockbridge choir teacher, Carol Hatch. Rehearsals will be held weekly on Monday evenings at 7pm starting September 12 with a public performance on Sunday, December 4. Rehearsals will be held in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church of Stockbridge at 101 S. Center Street in downtown Stockbridge. If you are interested please email stockbridgeareaartscouncil@gmail.com , message Stockbridge Area Arts Council on Facebook, or just show up at the first rehearsal!

The SAAC Festival Chorus performance will be on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 3pm in the Stockbridge Township Hall, 125 S. Clinton Street, Stockbridge. All are invited and welcome to this free concert.

The Stockbridge Area Arts Council is an all-volunteer organization providing arts programming in the Stockbridge area for over 30 years.

Beckwith Preserve Clean-up

The Stockbridge Area Wellness Coalition (SAWC) Clean-Up Club is working with Legacy Land Conservancy to spruce up Beckwith Preserve, clearing brush and invasive species (autumn olives). Meet at the parking lot off M-106 on the east side of Stockbridge. Bring gloves and water bottles. You can also receive information about Legacy Land Conservancy and how they work with landowners to preserve farmland or undeveloped land. SEVEN OUTDOOR SKILLS EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW! 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., Sunday, October 1. In this hands-on workshop, Meg Gower will show you traditional ways to navigate, as well as basic survival skills. Learn how to make fire without matches, build a shelter, locate water, signal, and more. Program geared to ages 10 to adult Cost: $2/person or $5/family with State Recreation Passport. Frontier Girls Fall Kickoff on Thursday 9 Sep 2023 Chelsea: Frontier Girls Troop 569 is a scouting program for girls serving the local areas of Chelsea, Grass Lake, Stockbridge and surrounding communities that was founded locally in 2021. Girls and parents interested in joining or getting more info are welcome to attend Troop 569’s fall kickoff meeting on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 9:30 am at the American Legion Post 31, 1700 Ridge Rd, Chelsea on the shore of beautiful Cavanaugh Lake. There will be information for girls interested in joining as well as some Constitution-oriented activities and dutch oven macaroni and cheese for a snack! Frontier Girls is a flexible scouting program for girls of all ages preschool through high school that promotes patriotism, outdoors, life skills, community service, and character, developing women of honor to be the mothers and leaders of the future. The program is affordable and deliberately flexible for busy families, home schoolers, families that have siblings in Boy Scouts, and girls that are actively engaged in extra- curricular activities. Most achievements can be done outside of formal meetings and many accomplishments in school, church, or other activities count towards badge and award requirements. Since the Troop’s inception in 2021, the Frontier Girls journeyed on nature hikes and geocaching outings at Howell Nature Center and Pinckney State Recreation Area, sent care boxes to Ukrainian refugees and caring letters to senior citizens, volunteered at the Bountiful Harvest Food Pantry and American Legion, learned about the Constitution and American flag etiquette, learned about American industrial history at Greenfield Village, started to learn archery, and completed several other badges, awards, and activities together as well as individually. The Troop is excited to kick off its 3rd school year! Due to the chartering relationship with American Legion Post 31 and trends in youth development needs, Troop 569 emphasizes the Liberty, Outdoors, and Servant’s Heart awards in its planning beyond the minimum baseline curriculum for a troop.
