Family Dollar/Dollar Tree celebrates new store in Pleasant Lake

The Pleasant Lake Family Dollar/Dollar Tree store held a grand opening ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the newest store location on Berry Road.

Activities included music, a prize wheel, face painting, and a kids zone. Food samples prepared from Family Dollar products also were available.

Festivities started at 10 a.m. with the sounds of DJs Dagga Daz and Virgo Gem, Luna Wave Inc. of St. Joseph, Mich. Promotion specialists Lisa Crowell and Jon Fetting came all the way from Indiana to host the event.

The area residents and customers who attended the grand opening were pleased with the new store.

“I believe it will help the community grow,” said PattI Pickett, a longtime Pleasant Lake resident.

Pickett said she liked the store’s layout, its wide aisles and well-stocked shelves.

“They had staffing and helped me find a few items,” she said.

Mary Ann Winters, who lives across the street from the business, said both she and her husband liked the new store’s “reasonable prices.”

Store Manager Arthur Tedder welcomes his new job assignment.

“I am looking forward to serving Pleasant Lake and the surrounding area,” he said.

Tedder says he is one of seven employees who are working at the store, and they hope to add more. They are currently accepting applications.

According to its website, the store carries cleaning supplies, discount groceries, seasonal items and toys. It also has deals on kitchen essentials, laundry supplies, and food. Customers also can find basics such as milk, eggs and bread.

The new Family Dollar/Dollar Tree store officially opened on Sept. 19. It is located at 5035 E. Berry Road, in Pleasant Lake, near the corner of Bunkerhill and Berry Roads. Phone is 517-780-8002. The store is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Family Dollar is a subsidiary of Dollar Tree Inc. The new Family Dollar store has a Dollar Tree section within the store that mainly features seasonal merchandise.
