Food Assistance Is Available For Neighbors Worried About SNAP Delays
Greater Lansing Food Bank, Our Partners and Other Community Organizations are here to help Neighbors in Need of Food
LANSING, MI (Oct. 29, 2025) —Greater Lansing Food Bank (GLFB) and our partners are here for neighbors who need food.
As the government shutdown continues, and with it, anticipated delays in benefit payments for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), GLFB knows many mid-Michigan neighbors are worried about keeping food on the table for themselves and their families.
“For more than 40 years, GLFB has been here for neighbors who need a helping hand,” said Michelle Lantz, GLFB CEO. “Our commitment to ensure neighbors in mid-Michigan have access to food they and their families need remains steadfast.”
GLFB and our network of 300+ partner food pantries, mobile distribution sites, community meal sites and other organizations are preparing to meet the rise in need as shutdown-related SNAP benefit delays or missed federal paychecks force more neighbors to turn to other community resources for help.
In addition to GLFB, below is a compilation of food assistance resources available to neighbors in our seven-county region. Please contact these organizations ahead of time to verify your eligibility and resource availability, as changes can occur at any time.

- Specific programs may have additional eligibility criteria. Visit website or call for full details.
Additional information for SNAP recipients - Fair Food Network has made changes to its Double Up Food Bucks program — which
matches purchases of fruits and vegetables using food assistance benefits — through
the end of the year in response to anticipated benefits delays:
o No 90-day limit for shoppers to use their Double Up Food Bucks, meaning there’s
no expiration.
o No daily earning cap of $20 per day. Previously, shoppers could buy fresh fruits
and vegetables from participating locations and get matched dollar for dollar, up
to $20, to double their purchasing power. Now, the match limit is unlimited.
o Shoppers can now also use Double Up Food Bucks on frozen fruits and
vegetables without added sugar, salt and oil.
- DoorDash is waiving delivery and service fees on grocery orders for the month of
November for customers who have previously verified their SNAP status. - Many Lansing-area restaurants are offering free or reduced menu prices for SNAP
recipients until delayed benefits are released.
