FROM CADL STOCKBRIDGE

by Head Librarian Sherri McConnell

Summer is here and there’s so much happening at CADL Stockbridge. Starting on June 1 all CADL branches are opening for 45-minute browsing sessions! To get the latest on CADL’s opening go to cadl.org/safety or call 517-851-7810. June 1 is also the kick-off to CADL’s Summer Reading Challenge that runs through August 7, and this year’s theme is Tails & Tales.

To celebrate the library is offering a chance to be a citizen scientist and win prizes. Squirrels are fun to watch and you can catch their crazy antics while recording your observations for science. Ask for the Squirrel Project form at the library, record your observations and bring the form back to the library to be entered into a drawing taking place after August 7. We have some squirrel-themed prizes to hand out including a squirrel-size picnic table. The Summer Reading Challenge is for all ages and you can register at cadl.org/summer.

If you go to A Day in the Village, stop by Veterans Park on Saturday, June 19 at 2 p.m. to see the program, Lords of the Sky-Birds of Prey by Howell Nature Center and sponsored by CADL-Stockbridge. Learn about raptors, see live birds of prey, and learn about their characteristics and importance to the environment.

Capital Area District Libraries’ Stockbridge branch is located at 200 Wood St. For more information, call 517-851-7810 or visit cadl.org.
