Garden Club deck the hall–historic Stockbridge Township Hall
by Judy Williams
It’s looking more like Christmas around Stockbridge thanks to 23 Stockbridge Area Garden Club members. The mighty members divided into four groups to conquer the holiday task. The hardier members took on the work of trimming the 9-foot spruce donated by Molly and Rick Howlett of the Howlett Tree Farm, while the others decorated the historical Township Hall for the season.
Another Christmastime Garden Club activity is to adopt several Outreach families to help ensure that everyone has packages and gifts to open on Christmas Day.
The Stockbridge Area Garden Club, founded in 1984, meets the first Monday of each month and undertakes numerous civic projects. Some of its activities include the maintenance of the seasonally decorated cart at the main intersection in Stockbridge, spring planting of the Stockbridge Township Square, and weeding and watering of the cemetery flag garden and the township memorial garden.
In addition to the civic projects, the members also find time to share their enjoyment of learning about flowers and gardening.
