High School Sports Returns to Stockbridge

In what was a long time coming, Stockbridge athletes took part in a sports contest for the first time since March due to the Covid-19 Pandemic this week as the cross country teams hosted a tri-meet Friday, August 28.

With numerous cancellations to Invitationals due to the pandemic, the teams are scrambling to find new meets to take part in.

Outdoor events are limited to just 100 people, including the runners, coaches, and trainers, so it is very limited to spectators in attendance.

The Panthers hosted Chelsea and Home in the boys’ race, while the girls faced off against Homer in a dual meet.

State power Chelsea dominated the boys race. The Bulldogs were the Division 2 state champions in 2017 and 2018, while finishing 4th in 2019.

Their power showed as they took the top four spots and finished with 17 points. The Panthers finished with 53 points and Homer 70 on a hot and humid day in Stockbridge that slowed the pace of the race for most of the runners.

Junior Dalton Satkowiak led the Panthers with a 6th place finish in 18:08.7. He is coming off a season where he qualified for the D3 state finals and looks to repeat his performance from 2019.
