Lady Panthers Clinch Share of GLAC Title. Can Clinch Outright at Home Tuesday
The Stockbridge girls’ basketball team proved the pre-season predictions to be correct as the Panthers clinched a share of the GLAC title with a 47-34 win over Olivet Friday night.
The Panthers were picked to battle for the top spot in the conference and the win paired with a Leslie loss to Lansing Christian Friday night gave the Panthers at least a share of the title.
They can clinch their first title in since 2005 with a win at home against Perry or at Lakewood Friday night or another Leslie loss. Stockbridge is currently 9-1 in the conference and Leslie 7-3.
The Panthers started slow Friday night with Olivet holding an 11-9 lead after one quarter and 21-20 at the half.
Gwen Rogozinski sparked the Panthers with eight points in the third quarter as they went on a 15-5 run to take a 35-26 lead after three.
Madison Mazuca hit a big three pointer in the fourth a Chelsey Asquith scored four points as the Panthers pulled away for the 13-point win.
Rogozinski led the Panthers with 18 points.
Mazuca finished with 10 points and Kaylee Dalton chipped in with six. Grace Hall added five points, Asquith four, Rylee Tolson and Brooklyn Rochow two each.
The Panthers improved to 14-3 overall on the season.
