Lady Panthers Return From Holiday to Sting Concord

The Stockbridge girls basketball team returned from its holiday break in a big way Monday night by pasting Concord 55-23 to improve to 5-2 overall on the season.

Gwen Rogozinski scored nine first quarter points as the Panthers jumped out to a quick 15-4 lead after one period.

Gwen Rogozinski scored a team high 20 points to lead the Panthers past Concord.

 

Concord nailed a triple to start the second to cut the lead to 15-7, but that is as close as the Yellow Jackets would get. The Panthers went on a 14-1 run to close out the half building a 29-8 lead at intermission.

Grace Hall, Kaylee Dalton, and Rogozinski scored four points each to spark the run.

Grace Hall scored 13 points including nine in the first half for the Panthers.

The Panthers continued to pour it on in the third by outscoring Concord 16-8 for a comfortable 45-16 lead heading to the fourth.

Things got a little scary in the fourth when Hall appeared to bump knees with a Concord player and was helped off the court. She would later return to the relief of coaches and fans as the Panthers have just eight players on the their roster.

Stockbridge closed it out in the fourth with no further damage and outscoring Concord 10-7 to finish the 55-23 win.

Rogozinksi finished with a team high 20 points, followed by Hall with 13.

Dalton chipped in with eight, while Madison Mazuca and Rylee Tolson added four each. Chelsey Asquith finished with three points, Makayla Surline two, and Brooklyn Rochow one as all eight Panthers reached the scoring column.

The Panthers will host Olivet Friday night at 6:00 in a key early season GLAC showdown between the pre-season picks for the top spot in the conference.
