Local kickball group gets the ball rolling for 2025 season

So, do you want to play some kickball?! If so, join the fun with The Ballstars this season at  the baseball field in Gregory, located on Church Street east of M106.

Kimberly Rosedale got the idea of starting this local kickball league after learning that friends played with a Lansing kickball league. She thought to herself, “Why not organize one here?” Rosedale formed the Ballstars in 2024 with a mission to bring neighbors together for camaraderie, mediocre athleticism, and FUN!

The goal is to celebrate every kick and every score, turning every play into a hilarious memory, one kick at a time.

The team is geared toward adults of all ages who like to laugh hard, occasionally play hard, and enjoy some friendly competition. Children are welcome to come watch and, occasionally, join in the play. (Safety of the kids is of the utmost priority when they are on the field.)

The Ballstars also support local youth sports teams. Last year they played against the Stockbridge Boys Varsity Soccer team. Although the Ballstars were soundly defeated, they considered it a huge win because they raised $400 dollars—enough to buy the team new shirts. They also had a great time challenging the Stockbridge 5th and 6th Grade Football Team, and they hope to continue to have other fundraiser games involving youth sports.

The next preseason game will be on May 25 at 2 p.m.

The Ballstar’s eight-game, official kickball season kicks off this year on June 22 at 2 p.m. New captains and teams are selected first, then the games start at 3 p.m.

Every game has a specific theme; some themes this season are Wild West, Circus, and Sport Mode. Bringing a dish to pass is optional.

Off season, the Ballstars have monthly “pop-up” game dates, such as the May 25 preseason game.
